University Endowment Lands
Nestled on the western tip of Vancouver Peninsula, the University Endowment Lands (UEL) is where learning meets love for nature in British Columbia, Canada. This unique place combines forest and shorelines, and even boasts a natural bog reserve.

The climate? It's pleasantly temperate, with a soft rain sprinkling down during fall and winter.

Established back in 1925 to fund the nearby University of British Columbia (UBC), the UEL has grown hand in hand with the university. It's worth noting the UEL is located on the ancestral land of the Musqueam people.

It's hard to put a label on the UEL. It's not exactly a city or a typical neighborhood, rather a kind of village made up of around 4,000 residents— many of whom are UBC students, professors, and staff. This brings an undeniably academic vibe to the area.

The UEL doesn't have big industries or bustling commerce itself, but it plays its part in the economy by training the sharp minds at UBC. These minds hail from faculties like applied science, medicine and arts.

When it's time for fun, you're in for a treat at the UEL. Check out trails in the lush Pacific Spirit Regional Park, soak up the sun at Wreck Beach (clothing optional!), or enjoy exploring UBC's Museum of Anthropology, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, and the UBC Botanical Garden. When you crave a dash of city life, downtown Vancouver—close by but world away—is full of delicious food, vibrant culture, and endless entertainment. Welcome to UEL, where academia meets adventure!
